Events at Indian Research Matters (IRM)

Indian Research Matters (IRM) organizes and hosts a variety of events aimed at promoting research communication, knowledge exchange, and collaboration across disciplines.


Under the IRM banner, we plan to host activities such as:


  • Podcasts featuring conversations with researchers
  • Webcasts and research talks
  • Interviews with scientists and scholars
  • Webinars on emerging research topics
  • Online and in-person conferences
  • Symposia and workshops


These events are designed to create a platform where researchers, students, and science enthusiasts can engage with new ideas, share insights, and discuss the impact of research on society.

Volunteer Science Journalist Trainee Program

 Indian Research Matters is currently inviting applications for Volunteer Science Journalist Trainees who are interested in learning and contributing to research communication.


This opportunity is open to:

  • Undergraduate students
  • Master’s students
  • PhD students
  • Early career researchers
  • Individuals interested in science writing and research communication

Selected trainees are expected to contribute voluntarily for a minimum period of six months. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  

Volunteer trainees will work with the IRM editorial team and may be involved in activities such as:


  • Writing research stories and articles for the IRM website
  • Communicating with researchers and authors regarding their work
  • Identifying and highlighting new research developments
  • Assisting in preparing interviews or research features
  • Supporting editorial and content development activities


This program aims to provide hands-on experience in science journalism, research communication, and academic outreach. 

Benefits for Volunteers

Participants in the IRM Volunteer Science Journalist Trainee Program will receive:


  • Free registration for selected IRM online events and webinars
  • Five-year IRM membership in the Indian Research Matters Researcher Forum
  • Official experience certificate recognizing their contribution to science communication
  • Future endorsement or reference letters based on performance and contribution


This program provides an opportunity to gain practical experience, build writing and communication skills, and become part of a growing research communication community.
